Reading Your Bible

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

To grow in our faith we must spend time in God’s Word.  By developing a habit of reading and studying the Word of God we deepen our relationship with him and grow closer to him.  As our faith grows we can then put our faith into action and accomplish his plan for our life.

Praying to God

James 5:16b The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

The healthiest relationships are based on two-way communication.  The same is true in our relationship with God.  He desires to speak to us through his Word and he encourages us to talk to him when we pray.

Praying to God is not difficult.  In fact, he even provided a simple plan for offering our prayers to him.  Following this plan is a great way to develop a healthy relationship with your heavenly Father that is based on two-way communication.

Worshiping Together

Psalm 150:6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.

We were created to worship God.  When we gather for a time of corporate worship on Sundays and Wednesdays, it is an important time because as we offer our praise and thanksgiving to God we please the Lord and create a synergy of praise with fellow believers.

Doing ‘Life’ Together

Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

There’s something special about doing life with other believers that we can serve, as well as be served by them.  We all know life can be difficult at times.  Having caring friends alongside as we journey makes it easier.

Equipping Believers

Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Each of us is a unique creation – hand-crafted with intention and purpose by our Father.  So, as we grow spiritually it is important to connect with ministries that develops our natural God-given talents and abilities.

At BrightonAG, we have several ministries where you can be used by God and become equipped to serve him in a greater capacity.

Serving God and Others

Colossians 3:23-24 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Our level of spiritual maturity is often measured by our willingness to serve God and others.  As we grow in our faith, we realize our life is not our own; but it now belongs to God.  And, our response to his call upon our life is to offer our time, talents, and treasures back to Him.

Resources

2 Timothy 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

As we do our best to have a deep, intimate, and fulfilled life we must continually seek God and his will concerning our lives.  Seeking God’s will involves knowing his Word and spending time in prayer and meditation.  Additionally, we can grow by utilizing books, videos, and other study aids which can help us achieve health in this area of our faith as well.
